Abstract

In the Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition engine, by dividing the combustion chamber into a large combustion chamber and a small combustion chamber and igniting it earlier in a small combustion chamber, multistage combustion of homogeneous charge compression ignition engine can be obtained, the operational range can be expanded and high thermal efficiency can be obtained. In this study, in case of using the same fuel in the large combustion chamber and the small combustion chamber, there is mounting of the glow plug in the small combustion chamber as a method of igniting first in the small combustion chamber. On the other hand, there is also a method to promote ignition by making the inside of the combustion chamber a high temperature atmosphere by making the small combustion chamber with heat-insulation. In this study, experimental study were performed to clarify the effect of high-temperature combustion chamber of the small combustion chamber on the HCCI combustion.
