Abstract
A severe heart rot disease has been observed in the A. mangium plantations of Bangladesh. A survey shows that the incidence of heart rot ranges from 49-58% in different locations. Heart rot increases with the increase of diameter of mangium trees. Six fungi have been isolated from heart rotted wood of A. mangium. Four of them are members of Basidiomycete and are supposed to be associated with the rot. Due to the absence of fruit-bodies in cultures, these four isolates could not be identified so far. Symptom of the disease has been described and suggestions for probable control measures of heart rot are provided.
