Community policing in the city of Belgrade: Attitudes of basic police training participants

This paper represents empirical research based on the idea of community policing, as a new concept of police work in Serbia. The paper presents the research findings about attitudes and experiences of Belgrade citizens, particularly trainees at the Basic Police Training Centre in Sremska Kamenica (hereinafter: BPTC) about police work in their community. A survey of 421 respondents from Belgrade, determined their attitudes and experiences about police work in community, whereby it was noticed that the Belgrade police was not open to the community, is not visible, the realization of the police project is not transparent. In addition to introduction and conclusion, article has four sections: the conceptual framework of the research, the methodological framework of the research, the research findings and discussion.
