Abstract

Atrioventricular (AV) junction is the area separating atria and the ventricles of the heart. Specifically, when talking about the AV junction, the focus is put more on its contents, the AV node and the nonbranching bundle of His. The AV junction plays a role in the pathology including atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia (AVNRT) and junctional rhythms which are rhythms that originate at the AV junction due to disruption in communication from the SA node.
