Abstract
In this paper, we propose a new mathematical formula to calculate the transient energy margin under the condition of automatic line reclosing within the frame of the center of inertia of the power system and apply this new formula to build a new algorithm assessing the transient stability for ranking the power network areas in multi-machine power system, serving the power system expansion planning. The typical results and examples, which are shown in this paper, prove the advantage of new formula of transient energy margin.
