Abstract

Historically, community college Student Affairs professionals have played an important role in student success and have been the conscience of the college to ensure efforts were in line with the specific needs of the students. The expansion of Student Affairs programs and services also demonstrated the agility and adaptability of these departments to respond to changes and challenges by creating practices and conditions consistent with the history and values of Student Affairs in community colleges. The articles presented in this collection provide a historical context framing selected current initiatives and practices that are being implemented to better serve the community college student of today.
