Abstract
Abstract Information is provided concerning propeller maintenance and repairs. Rules and standards relevant to these activities are reviewed, and the properties of different propeller materials concerning reparability are summarized. Several reasons for the need of propeller maintenance are described, like marine growth, corrosion, and cavitation erosion. Repair techniques are reviewed, and due consideration is given to ways of cathodic protection to avoid corrosion. Possible techniques to repair and modify propeller blades are described including nondestructive testing (NDT), together with the locations where several of these techniques can be applied, like in under water, drydock, or a workshop.
