Analysis Figurative Language In The Beatles Selected Song Lyrics

The this thesis entitled “Analysis Figurative Language in The Beatles Selected Song Lyrics “ is a study to find and to analyze the figurative language in details have contained the lyrics of The Beatles. To provide the best results in finding and analyzing figurative language in The Beatles song lyrics, the writer uses Abrams’s theory (1996) in identifying and analyzing the types of figurative language contained in The Beatles song lyrics. This theory is suitable for use in a complete data source. This method of using qualitative in analyzing data complex and detailed data. In this case the thesis, kinds of figurative were selected and analyzed using songs that have chosen the first. In this thesis, there are also five songs. The figurative language appears 42 times namely ; personification appears 12 times, simile appers 7 times, hyperbole appears 7 times, metaphor appears 5 times, metonymy appears 5 times, Irony appears 4 times, paradox appear 1 time and synecdoche appear 1 time. The result of the study presented that the meanings of figurative language in the song lyrics tells about spirit, problem life, social criticism, freedom expression, etc. Keywords: Figurative Language, Song and Lyrics.
