The Development of Soviet Military Science

The powerful coalition of socialist countries, united by unanimity of political and military goals, will oppose the aggressive imperialist bloc. World war might be unleashed by aggressor by a surprise nuclear attack directly on the Soviet Union and other socialist countries, or it might arise as the result of the escalation of a local military conflict into a world war. With the beginning of mass introduction of nuclear rocket weapon into the armed forces, great attention was given in the theory and practice of military art to working out methods of conducting combat actions in beginning period of war. Taking into account the danger of a surprise nuclear attack of an aggressor, it is necessary to keep our Armed Forces in constant combat readiness for swift actions. Soviet military strategy holds that such forms of armed conflict might be strategic operations in theaters of military actions, combat actions of National PVO Troops, operations of naval forces and long range aviation.
