The Specificity of Amateur Choir Organization in Modern Austria

Abstract

The article is devoted to the actualization of the problem of restoration and development of amateur choral performance in Ukraine on the example of the organization of thework of amateur choirs of modern Austria. The essence of the concepts "Choral federation of Austria" and "Regional choral society", their main goals and principles of work are covered in this article. It is emphasized that for the effective existence of the amateur choir it is recommended to be an active member of the Regional Choral Society, which is an integral part of the Choral Federation of Austria. The article focuses on the features of the structure and organization of church and semiprofessional amateur choirs. The goals and tasks of the administrative board of the choir are considered. The duties of the government are outlined: to draw up a rehearsal plan; rent a rehearsal room; inform the singers about the changes; to acquire and preserve choral scores in the choir library; to introduce ideas in the selection of the repertoire, subsequent concert performances, to organize the collective’s participation in choral festivals or competitions, rehearsal choral weeks; to make advertising, to create posters, to distribute concert tickets, to search for other musicians and artists (if it is necessary for a particular project); to search for a conductor and to stipulate the conditions of his work; to keep all financial records of the team; to create and maintenance the choral group web page. The conductors’ functions of the amateur choir are specified: approval of the repertoire composed by the choir leaders or an independent choice, the compilation of concert programs; learning the repertoire and preparing artistic program for the concert performance; systematic work on the vocal-choral technique of chorus singers;establishment of contact with other invited musicians (soloist-vocalists, instrumentalists); a concert performance conducting. The analysis, systematization and generalization of the Upper Austria amateur choirs’activity is based on the 10-year personal experience of the conductor-choirmaster, music manager Tetiana Bjokshtayner and the results of the conducted ascertaining experiment.
