Abstract
This chapter presents the concept of enterprise architecture to support the analysis and design of enterprise systems. An enterprise architecture is important to deal with the complexity inherent in enterprise systems and to align the many subsystems so that they all work harmoniously towards the enterprise’s goals. Enterprise architecture provides the foundation on which enterprise integration is accomplished. Among the first decisions that are made in an enterprise engineering project is what enterprise architecture to adopt.
