Abstract

Cover Picture. Panax quinquefolius L. (American ginseng) is native to North America and has historically been among the most intensively used medicinal herbs worldwide. The beneficial health effects of American ginseng principally come from ginsenosides. Ten major ginsenosides (Rb1, Rb2, Rb3, Rc, Rd, Re, Rf, Rg1, Rg2, and Rg3) in wild American ginseng roots grown in Tennessee (TN), the third leading state for production of wild American ginseng, were determined simultaneously. The chemotypic differences among TN wild ginseng, cultivated American ginseng, and Asian ginseng were assessed based on the markers of ginsenoside profiling, as reported by J. Liang et al. in their full paper at 10.1002/cbdv.201900203.
