Materia Medica and Herbal Highlights from Special Collections

Abstract

Catalog of an exhibit featuring medical texts that describe the use of medicinal herbs throughout history. The exhibit was held at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital and ran April-May 2013. It was a collaboration between Northwestern Memorial Hospital's archives (Sue Sacharski, NMH Archivist) and the Galter Health Sciences Library Special Collections (Ron Sims, Special Collections Librarian). The banners in the exhibit from the archives were from several previous installations. Created by internationally acclaimed artist Norman LaLiberte for the lobby of Northwestern Memorial Hospitals Wesley Pavilion (now site of Prentice Womens Hospital), the banners were first used in 1973.
