Abstract
Critical thinking is the identification and evaluation of evidence to guide decision making. Critical reading refers to a careful, active, reflective, analytic reading. A critical thinker and a critical reader use broad, in‐depth analysis of evidence to make decisions, form ideas, and communicate beliefs clearly and accurately. Learning to think critically is essential for developing literacy abilities. Focusing on activities to help diverse learners develop critical thinking skills will, in effect, help their critical reading skills.
