Abstract

There are many factors which affect the efficiency of phytoremediation in soils contaminated with arsenic(As).These include plant species, arsenic availability for the hyperaccumulator plants, physical and chemical properties of soil, soil amendments, soil microorganisms, etc. This paper mainly reviews the effects of As-hyperaccumulator plants,char-acteristics of arsenic pollutants, physical and chemical properties of soil, climate and agricultural cultivation measures, etc.on phytoremediation in As contaminated soils. The hyperaccumulator plants are the basis of phytoremediation technology and plays crucial role in enhancing the efficiency of phytoremediation. In practice, the research and screen of phytoremediation should be pay more attention, and the safe treatment techniques and resource application for phytoremediation at post-harvest stage should be strengthened. The chemicals, microorganism and agro-ecological measures should be used to enhance the remediation efficiency of soil contaminated with As based on phytoremediation.
