Abstract
The bioactivity of tebufenozide (RH-5992) and its effects on Spodoptera exigua were investigated. The results showed that tebufenozide displayed high ovicidal activity on 1-day eggs of S. exigua at the concentration of 200mg/L. Leaf-dip tests showed that the 1st and 2nd instar larvae of S. exigua were more sensitive to tebufenozide than the 3rd, 4th and 5th instar larvae. Tebufenozide could disrupt the growth and development of S. exigua. After treated with tebufenozide in diets, the larval period was elongated and the fecundity of S. exigua was decreased and the ratios of survival, pupation, emergence and hatch of the larvae were also decreased.
