Figurative Language On Selected Lyrics Of Brian Mcknight’s Songs

This study is aimed to analyze figurative language in the lyrics of Brian Mcknight, there are “One Last Cry”, Still In Love”, “The Only One For Me”, “Back At One”, and “My kind Of Girl”. The sentence found in this thesis were selected and analyzed based on the types of figurative language used in the songs that have been selected. Moreover, in this study there are five songs. In this study, the writer analyzed figurative language from 35 sentences. As the result, the most dominant figurative language is hyperbole. The second most dominant types are personification and alliteration. Then, the third most dominant figurative language language are paradox and metaphor. The last most dominant figurative language are allegory and symbol. This study shows that in Brian Mcknight song lyrics are love, feeling, expression, and life.
