Abstract

Abstract Phthalide‐3‐carboxylic acid (I) is decarboxylated in the presence of isoquinolines (II), (IV) and (VIII) to give low yields of (isoquinolin‐1‐yl)isobenzofuranones such as (III), (VI) and (IX).
