Abstract

Abstract N‐Methyl‐3,4‐dihydroisoquinolinium tetrafluoroborate (I) reacts with p‐nitroperbenzoic acid (II) in the presence of one equivalent of sodium bicarbonate to produce a mixture of the isoquinolinium salt (III) and the ring‐opened aldehyde (IV).
