Abstract
Abstract The reaction of brucite (Mg(OH)2) with soluble SiO2 under hydrothermal conditions to yield talc (Mg3Si4O10(OH)2) is found to occur via serpentine (Mg3Si2O5(OH)4) as an intermediate phase below 415 °C, whereas above 430 °C an additional intermediate, forsterite (Mg2SiO4) is formed.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
