Abstract
Fluvial erosional processes begin with understanding how flowing water interacts with the landscape. As certain thresholds are met, water begins to entrain sediment. The removal and transport of sediment result in erosional landforms. Fluvial erosional landforms exist at a range of scales from upland rill formation, to tortuously sinuous meandering rivers that stretch for miles. Describing how water mobilizes sediment and the interaction of the flow with the landscape yields understanding of how fluvial processes create and maintain landforms.
