Abstract

The paper presents the experimental operation of LEDs as photodiode. The link performances were analyzed which covered an appropriate distance for indoor optical communication. The link capability of more than 1m is reported with the data rate of 519Kbps. The internet over LEDs is new addition to communication technology and provides different sort of smart applications. LEDs are cheaper than the photodiodes to enable optical communication. The LED to LED links can be used successfully for indoor optical wireless communication. It is observed that the blue, red, yellow, green and white color LEDs have good responses as a photodiode but some places and variance in environment may impact differently. The optimal signal to noise ratio is achieved with the suitability of this work for estimated link performance for communication.
