The article is devoted to new studies on the boundary between celebrity studies and cultural diplomacy – studies on “celebrity diplomacy”, which can be considered as the global activity of celebrities in the field of advocacy, cultural diplomacy and nation branding. The author believes that the ability of celebrity diplomats to be relatively independent from state institutions and popular among a wide audience gives them a huge advantage over traditional diplomats. Despite the fact that most celebrities do not have much experience in solving global issues, their popularity provides them with a high level of citizen support in the implementation of public diplomacy programs.
