ANALYSIS OF TEACHING MEDIA OF SPEAKING AT SMK NEGERI 2 MAGETAN

Today, the world requires that the goal of teaching speaking should improve students' communicative skills, because only in that way students can express themselves and learn how to follow the social and cultural rules appropriate in each communicative circumstance. By using the media, it can help the English teacher and students in teaching learning process. The objective of this study were (1) to find the kinds of media the teacher used in teaching speaking, (2) the teacher's problems in using media in teaching speaking and (3) the way of the teacher solves the problems in using media in teaching speaking. This research used descriptive qualitative research. The research subject of this research was the English teacher at SMK Negeri 2 Magetan. To obtain the data, this research used two kinds of instrument, they were interview guide and observation checklist to obtained the kinds of media that the teacher applied in teaching speaking, the problems, and the solution of the problems. The result of this research showed that the teacher used two kinds of media, they were audio media and visual media. In using audio media, the teacher used a voice recorder through laptop with additional loud speaker in delivering the material such as conversation. She also used LCD and a blackboard as her visual media. Unfortunately, the teacher had some problems in using the media, such as the big number of the students in speaking class, and the media sometimes did not work properly. To solve the number of the students problem, the teacher design students in a small class which contained no more than 20 students. As result, the teaching learning process was more comfortable. To solve the media did not work properly and defectiveness media, the teacher asked to the staff to fix them.
