Abstract
This study presents the results of the Interstate 5(I-5) Seattle to Vancouver, B.C., Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Early Deployment Program. The purpose of the study was to provide the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) with an implementation plan for deploying ITS technologies. The study looked at specific ITS applications in the areas of traffic management, traveler information, emergency management, and commercial vehicle operations with an emphasis on providing specific projects to be deployed throughout the corridor. Seven project tasks assessed transportation needs, indentified corridor ITS opportunities, recommended corridor strategies, developed a corrodor plan, developed a corridor communication plan, conducted an ITS coordination/outreach effort, and prepared the final report. The report discusses the specific project recommendations and includes cost estimates and prospectuses for the projects.
