Keratoconus: A literature review

Abstract
An overview of clinical diagnosis, etiology, and treatment is provided to help the clinician understand keratoconus. Keratoconus is a non-inflammatory thinning and protrusion of the cornea. The exact etiology is unclear. Gas permeable rigid contact lenses have proven to be a successful method of treatment. Surgical intervention should only be considered after other methods of treatment have proven unsuccessful.
