Urban Landscape/Urban Form

Abstract Urban form is the concrete manifestation of the physical expression of the city as a result of the transforming action of the human being, with a greater or lesser influence of physical and environmental variables, as well as the content or history that they present. Urban landscape highlights more patently the man–nature relationship that occurs in the territory in a permanent transformation, where its inhabitants' perception plays an important role in its comprehension. In this entry the history of approaches and studies on this issue is reviewed, including in particular a description from the perspectives of urban morphology, as an approach focused on the anthropic aspects that generate physical or visible manifestations.
