Abstract
Juvenile waiver to adult court has been a practice since the inception of the juvenile court. It involves the transferring of juveniles to the adult criminal justice system for prosecution. In other words, these youth bypass the juvenile court and are, instead, treated as “adults” for criminal processing. This entry will explain the rationale for transferring juveniles to the criminal justice system, the methods by which youth are transferred, along with the latest empirical research that has focused on this area.
