Forests play an important role in providing natural resources for the communities. Overextraction of these resources without any means of conservation may lead to possible forest degradation. Therefore, Perum Perhutani developed the Community Based Forest Managment Program (PHBM) in order to ensure welfare and conservation of forest resources by means of active participation of the local communities. One of the schemes of PHBM is Community Forestry. Welfare can be established if all spectrums of society are able to obtain sustainable livelihood strategies. This literature study aims to find out the impact of the community forestry programs towards the livelihood strategies of the local communities. The method used in the preparation of this literature study is method of literature studies are obtained from the results of several scientific journals, textbooks, theses, dissertations, theses and other research results that relevant to the topic of this literature study.
