Abstract

The advanced glycation end products (AGE) are a heterogeneous group of compounds formed by the interaction of sugars and active carbonyls with proteins and lipids. The purpose of this review is to discuss the role of AGE and their receptors (RAGE) in the pathogenesis and diagnosis of non-diabetic cardiovascular diseases. The new therapeutic approaches to the treatment of heart failure based on the regulation of the level of AGE and RAGE are considered.
