[Population reproduction rates for all Japan: 1982].

Population reproduction rates are examined for all of Japan in 1982. Several tables show: 1) standardized and crude vital rates from 1925-1982; 2) reproduction rates for females from 1925-1982; 3) intrinsic vital rates, average length of stable population generation and age composition of stable and actual populations for females from 1925-1982; 4) population, number of births and specific fertility rates by age, and reproduction rates for females in 1982; 5) population, number of deaths and specific mortality rates by 5-year age groups in 1982; 6) intrinsic vital rates and average length of generation of stable population for females in 1982; and 7) age composition of stable population for females in 1982. Findings indicate that in 1974 there was a sudden decrease in the natural birth rates in all of Japan, whereas in more recent years, the natural birth rate has increased slightly. For instance, in 1981 the natural birth rate was 12.55% and in 1982 it was 12.75%, an increase of .20%. The normal birth rate, however, has tended to decrease steadily. The total reproduction rate for all of Japan was 1.77 in 1982.
