Abstract

This document is the Final Report for the seventh annual Utah Transportation Research Advisory Council (UTRAC) workshop, which was held March 18-19, 1998 at Utah State University. The meeting was facilitated by the Utah Transportation Center under the direction of the Research Division of the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT). The purpose of the meeting and the resulting document was to develop an effective, results-oriented priority program for statewide transportation research during the next few years. The focus of the meeting was to bring together participants from all areas of transportation research throughout the state: various divisions and regions of the Utah Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, universities, and private consultants. This document covers specific research areas including (1) construction and maintenance, (2) materials and pavements, (3) hydraulics, roadway design, landscape, and environmental, (4) IVHS, planning, traffic, and safety, (5) structures and geotechnical. Each section proposes activities that should be undertaken to help UDOT achieve its strategic goals.
