Early Adolescent Ego Development

244 The main purpose of this article is to explore creatively the elements of ego development experienced by early adolescents. Personality development according to many is a lifelong process. Erikson (1968) postulates that developmental^ certain critical conflicts must be resolved at certain stages of our lives. Although there are antecedent facets of these conflicts and post-resolution residuals, the conflicts themselves have a special time of emerging to be resolved. During early adolescence the major conflict is identity versus identity diffusion a critical step in ego development.
