The article examines the life and work of the German artist Albert Oehlen. Particular focus is given to his artistic techniques and to his work in abstract painting. Additional topics discussed include his friendship with the artist Martin Kippenberger, his use of printed fabric in his artwork and how his work was inspired by punk music and ethos.
