Abstract
In nature, the majority of chemical reactions, biological responses, and regulatory processes are modulated in some part by specific amino acid sequences. The transfer of these interactive sequences and the biological activities they induce to readily synthesized peptides has created a new approach to addressing dermatological and skin care issues. Here, we describe the origin of such sequences, their role in nature, their application to dermatology, as well as the advantages and challenges posed by this new technology.
