Abstract

Abstract This article explains the latent response structure and process compatible with the Rasch model (RM) for ordered response categories in standard formats. It considers the rationale for the RM but is not concerned with details of parameter estimation and tests of fit. There are a number of software packages that implement the Rasch model at an advanced level.
