Abstract

Phenolic resin synthesized by a formaldehyde/phenol(F/P) molar ratio of 1.3: 1 with different catalysts has been studied. High char yield can be obtained for the synthesized resin with NaOH or Na 2 CO 3 catalyst at lover heating rate during carbonization the highest char yield about 71.0% was found.
