Academic Leadership: Concept and Applications

Academic leadership involves being a visionary, role model and decision-maker, inspiring and motivating the team of teachers to adapt to changing trends in education, having a personal mastery of a discipline, great communication skills and ability to create networks within the university and with stakeholders. Academic leaders are competent to resolve conflicts in an institute, which are bound to arise. They act as change agent. In this article, we are presenting an account of the academic leadership, the skills and virtues of an academic leader, different leadership styles and how they impact medical institutes.
