Abstract

In Chapter 1, planning and research were identifi ed as one of the roles of destination management. The previous two chapters have discussed the planning part of this role in detail; Chapter 2 was about overall destination planning for tourism and Chapter 3 covered destination marketing planning. To be successful, both of these types of planning need to be research-based and so research is the next topic to explore.
