Abstract

STORAGE SYSTEM. Assesment about storage of spent nuclear fuel (SNF) from Nuclear Power Plant (NPP)’s 1000 MWe with dry cask storage system have been done. The amount of spent nuclear fuel inflicted from operation of NPP 1000 MWe was as much as 64 bundles per 18 months or 29.805 MtU per 18 months. After being stored in a pool of water (wet storage) for 3-5 years, spent nuclear fuel then transferred to dry storage for longer periods of time. There were many methods of dry storage system, one was the dry cask storage which will be examined in this assessment and review. Dry cask storage has been customarily used as storage of spent nuclear fuel in countries that have been operating NPP’s and this spent nuclear storage operation has been ongoing well for decades without the constraints of meaning. Keywords : Spent nuclear fuel (SNF), NPP 1000 MWe, Dry cask storage.
