Abstract

ASCOT simulations taking into account the combined effect of neoclassical tearing modes (NTMs) and externally applied 3D magnetic perturbations on fast-ions are presented.At first, a neutral beam ion ensemble is launched at AUG discharge with RMP perturbation and (3,2) NTM.Experimentally, the neutral beam ion losses observed by fast-ion loss detector are correlated with the NTM frequency but only when the RMP coils are turned on.The correlation is lost when coils are turned off.In the simulations, problems with the low statistics shield the frequency dependency and a new physicsbased algorithm was presented to filter particle ensemble to improve the number of particles that hit the FILD detector.Further work is needed in order to see the frequency in the simulations.For ITER, alpha particles were simulated in the 15MA baseline scenario including (2,1) or (3,2) NTMs and ELM control coil perturbations.The total alpha losses were calculated as a function of the island width and are shown to increase by up to 100% from the MHD quiescent level.This happens, however, only after the island width has reached locked mode threshold.
