Abstract
This paper seeks to show what radioactivity and radioactive waste are actually. There are different types of such waste therefore the classifications of radioactive waste and their differences are shown. Different sources and the emergence of radioactive waste and their disposal by different technologies are described. It shows the principle of nuclear power plants and the way radioactive nuclear fuel is used, and what are the various types of radioactive waste transport and eventually store and dispose. This paper shows the problem of the creation and storage of radioactive waste in the Republic of Croatia.
