Abstract

The photovoltaic conversion of the solar energy is nowadays one of the most promising source of electricity due to the numerous advantages of the solar energy comparing to other sources. Although the conversion efficiency of the current photovoltaic cells is under 20 percent, thus rather small, there are other techniques which can be implemented to increase the amount of electrical energy generated by the photovoltaic systems. Increasing the solar radiation on the photovoltaic (PV) panel using different concentrator systems is one of these techniques. Thus, this paper aims to analyze the benefits of solar radiation concentration technique on PV systems. In this sense a prototype of a low concentration photovoltaic (LCPV) system was developed and used for experimental determinations.
