Abstract
This paper proposes method for the image based defect detection in the ferromagnetic tube using Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) method. In many oil and gas industries, the leakage in pipelines is the major problem. The leakages leads to loss in this industries. There are various types of defects identification techniques in the NDT. In proposed method, the Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) techniques is used to detect defects. The defects in the inner surface, sub surface and outer surfaces are identified using this method. The defect patterns like Flat Bottom Hole (FBH), pits, ellipse etc., are also classified using image processing method. The MFL technique is best to find the inner surface defects when compared with other NDT methods.
