Abstract

In this paper, a microstrip patch antenna for 4G communications is designed. The proposed antenna operates at 1.8 GHz resonant frequency for 4G communication. The proposed antenna designed with square shaped slot in a rectangular patch antenna. The substrate material used in the proposed antenna is FR4 substrate and has the relative permittivity of 4.4. The dimension of the substrate is 48.24 mm * 38.73 mm and 0.8 mm thickness. The proposed antenna has been simulated by using HFSS software. The proposed antenna resonates at 1.8 GHz with the return loss and voltage standing wave ratio of -29.19 dB and 1.07, respectively. The performance of the antenna is analyzed by varying feed position, feed width, slot length and slot width.
