Walter White’s Hierarchy Of Human Needs Analysis In Breaking Bad Series

Abstract

This research focused only on Walter White, the main character in Breaking \nBad series. The research objective is to know the characterization of Walter and to \nfinds out the way of Walter fulfills his needs based on Hierarchy of Human Needs by \nAbraham Maslow. This research analyzed the characterization of Walter before and \nafter entering drugs business and examined the problem of Walter in fulfilling his \nneeds by entering the drugs business. This research used the qualitative method. \nThen, the data is analyzed by watching, identifying, and understanding. \nBased on the data analysis, this research found that Walter persona as coward \nhas changed into a ruthless person after he entered the drugs business. This research \nalso found out that Walter could fulfill physiological needs, safety needs, and love \nand belongingness needs as a chemistry teacher. However, his safety needs was \nmissing after Walter was diagnosed with a lung cancer. Walter entered the drugs \nbusiness in order to fulfill his safety needs. Another need occurred after he could \nsatisfy his safety needs once again. His wish to satisfy his esteem needs caused a \nproblem. Finally, Walter had to lose everything that he already achieved because of \nthe greediness for money, dignity, and his status as a drugs kingpin.
