STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION ON DIFFERENT CORRECTIVE FEEDBACK TYPES FOR THEIR WRITING LECTURERS: A CASE OF ENGLISH STUDY PROGRAM STUDENTS OF BENGKULU UNIVERSITY.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out students’ perception on different corrective feedback types in writing classes at the sixth semester students ofUniversitas of Bengkulu. The population of this research was all the students at the sixth semester in class A and B who took writing classes and all of population was taken as sample of this research. The data was collected by using questionnaire with 6 (six) alternative answers, namely Direct Corrective Feedback, Indirect Corrective Feedback, Metalinguistic Corrective Feedback, Focused Corrective Feedback, Unfocused Corrective Feedback, Reformulation Corrective Feedback.The result of this research found that the first question shows the most frequently corrective feedback used by the English department lecturer are indirect corrective feedback(50%) and direct corrective feedback(43%), the second question shows that the majority of the students report that the easiest types of corrective feedback to understand is direct corrective feedback(83%), the third question shows thatthe most easiest types of corrective feedback for the respondent is direct corrective feedback (90%), the fourth question shows that the most preferred type of corrective feedback is direct corrective feedback(75%) and the last question found that almost all students report that they often get difficulties to understand their lecturers’ corrective feedback (52%).
