Abstract

This study aims to investigate the teaching and learning theories applied by primary school mathematics teachers in the mathematics classroom and also the challenges that faced by teachers in their teaching and learning processes. In this research, an open-ended questionnaire distributed among 72 primary school mathematics teachers. The finding revealed that most of the primary school teachers still used behaviourism as their teaching approaches in 21st century in teaching mathematics. Measuring mathematics teachers' teaching and learning approaches help to identify typically the practice of teaching approaches in the 21st century mathematics teachers and find the ways for improving their teaching approaches in mathematics.
