Abstract

The history of the Weather Bureau weather surveillance radar program is briefly traced. Various types of radar equipment are described, with emphasis on the recently installed SR-57. Included are some examples of the weather detection capabilities of this radar, and a description of the duties of the Bureau's radar observers.
