IT Governance Steering Committee, IT Competence and IT Governance Performance in Ugandan Public Universities

Past research has largely focused on Boards IT governance responsibilities ignoring top management’s involvement in IT governance and how it might influence organizational capabilities and performance outcomes. This paper examined the relationship between IT governance steering committee, IT competence and IT governance performance in Ugandan public Universities. The study adopted a quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional research designs. Regression analysis was used to analyze the data. The results indicate quantitative evidence of significant positive relationships between IT governance steering committee, IT competence and IT governance performance. Findings also reveal that IT governance steering committee and IT competence are significant predictors of IT governance performance. The results also suggest that IT competence has a stronger influence on IT governance performance than IT governance steering committee influence. Discussions on the findings, implication and limitation of the study were also provided.
